Jeans Story

Every now and again you read a story that inspires and uplifts you, we recently received one of such:

Jean at Letham Park has been in bed for three years, the physio attempted to help her get out of bed but she was too sore and scared in the hoist.

Over the past 12 weeks Staff Nurse Kerryanne Johnstone worked with the physio to create ways that support Jeans movement without stress or discomfort.

Last week, the physio and Kerryanne managed to get Jean up and into a chair, she went down to the café for hot chocolate and for the first time in three years joined her peers for lunch in the dining room!! She also called her daughter who had she had not seen in a while.

Today, her daughter came to visit, she called the family and told them Jean was up – they think it is a miracle and are incredibly happy that their mum is up out of bed, the family is looking forward to bringing in the children and grandchildren for a visit, something that has previously been a distressing experience is now a something they are looking forward to.

Jeans goal is to build her strength and mobility so she can go and visit her daughter at home, maybe in the spring!!!
