Rosepark/Rosehill Walk All Over Cancer

A topic close to home for several reasons led Patricia Picksley to join the Walk All Over Cancer Challenge – a fundraising event hosted by Cancer Research which invites supporters to walk 10,000 steps every day throughout March. Hoping to raise crucial funds that will ultimately support Cancer Research’s goal of: discover, detect, prevent, and treat - those around Patricia were quick to support her in any way they could.

Speaking of the experience, Patricia, event organiser and Care Assistant at Renaissance Care Rosepark recalls:

“One of the residents who tends to spend a lot of time in her room was asking me about my progress in the challenge every day – I asked her if she wanted to join in, and we quickly built up a group of several residents, volunteers, and staff members who were keen to get involved.

“Some of the residents who have joined us hadn’t been out for a walk in a long time, but everyone has really challenged themselves by getting involved and helping me get that step count up! I’m so grateful for all of the support and donations we have received – and of course, for the wonderful company during my walks! 

“We held an organised walk from the home on the 21st of March and residents assisted in creating a banner, nearby Tunnock’s kindly gifted us some ponchos in case of wet weather, and we had tea and cake on arrival back at the home. It’s been such a fulfilling experience to raise money for such a good cause while supporting our residents to meet their own personal goals. We’re a tight-knit team here at Rosepark/Rosehill and we’re all so proud of what we’ve been able to achieve together.”
