Beech Manors Foodie Theme Makes a Splash

A man wearing a snorkel mask and goggles interacts playfully with a large, bright blue inflatable shark costume. A black dog looks up at the man and the shark, while a seated woman in the background smiles. The scene suggests a playful, sea-themed event.

Beech Manor makes a splash with “Under the Sea” themed lunch

Beech Manor brought waves of joy to residents and families this week with a vibrant “Under the Sea” themed lunch, complete with ocean-inspired dishes, colourful décor, and live entertainment. The event is part of the home’s focus on enrichment, nutrition, and meaningful shared experiences, helping to bring the Beech Manor community even closer together.

The idea for the themed lunch came from Deputy Manager Natasha, who has recently reintroduced themed dining events at Beech Manor. The home enjoyed these kinds of activities many years ago, and Natasha felt it was the perfect time to bring them back.

“We held a Chinese-themed lunch a few months ago, and the residents absolutely loved it,” she shared. “This time, we wanted something fun, colourful and a little bit different – so ‘Under the Sea’ felt perfect.”

The feedback from families has been so positive. Events like this truly bring everyone together as one big family

The kitchen team went above and beyond in preparing a stunning selection of sea-themed dishes, designed not only to delight but also to support positive nutrition. These themed menus encourage residents to explore new flavours and textures, while ensuring meals remain nutritious, balanced and tailored to their individual needs.

Residents commented on how impressed they were with both the presentation and taste of the dishes. Many said they tried foods they wouldn’t normally choose (which made us happy because we love giving our residents new experiences!)

Entertainment was provided by Mike Mooney, whose performance added fun, energy and plenty of sing-along moments to the afternoon. Residents and visiting family members joined together, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere throughout the home.
“There wasn’t one resident who didn’t enjoy the day,” Natasha said. “The feedback from families has been so positive. Events like this truly bring everyone together as one big family.”

At Renaissance Care, we believe that wellbeing is built on meaningful engagement, and Beech Manor continues to prove how powerful shared experiences can be. Themed events like this support:

•    Social connection – bringing residents, staff and families together
•    Joy and stimulation – offering new experiences that spark conversation and excitement
•    Good nutrition – encouraging residents to try new, healthy foods
•    A sense of belonging – reinforcing the warm, family-focused atmosphere Beech Manor is proud of

As Beech Manor continues to strengthen its engagement and wellbeing programme, events like the “Under the Sea” lunch show the home’s commitment to creating uplifting, memorable moments for everyone who lives there.
