Aberdeen Rising Star Performs Concert Of Hits For Elderly Care Home Residents

A local singing superstar has visited Jesmond Care Home to perform a series of hit songs for the elderly residents.

Erin Ingles – who is just 11 years old – has built an impressive audience and reputation with her powerful vocals, often performing to her loyal 55,000 strong audience on YouTube.

The residents were treated to performances of some of Erin’s favourite songs including It’s Okay by Night Bird.  

Sandra Baxter, a resident at Jesmond Care Home, aged 70 said: “It was wonderful to have Erin visit us and perform a couple of her favourite songs – she has such an incredible voice and to hear it firsthand was truly breathtaking.

“Music has such an emotive and powerful presence and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say we thoroughly enjoyed Erin’s visit and hope she will remember us when she’s a worldwide superstar.”

Jim Hepburn, a resident at Jesmond Care Home, aged 83 said: “Erin is wonderful, she moved me to tears with her stunning singing voice. I have no doubt she has a successful future ahead of her.”

Jesmond Care Home is part of Renaissance Care group that currently owns and operates 16 homes across Scotland. This is just one of a wide array of exciting initiatives run by the group, that prioritise the physical and mental wellbeing of residents.

Holly Webb, Activities Coordinator, Jesmond Care Home said: “Erin is really well-known locally as being a rising star and so when she said she would come and visit us we were delighted.

“We know the joy music brings our residents and to have someone with as much talent as Erin performing in the home was really special.”

Jesmond’s spacious environment has been designed to create a safe and supportive home for all residents. It also promotes wellbeing for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The home also has an enclosed garden that residents often like to tend to in the warmer months.
