Bridge Of Don Care Home Residents Get In To The Festive Spirit With A Heartwarming Christmas Nativity

Residents at a local care home in Bridge of Don have been enjoying a busy calendar of festive activities this year including the local primary school children from Forehill Primary performing their festive carols for the residents, dance performances from local group Tutus Dance School and a visit to local nursery, Bridges Nursery, for a special rendition of Jingle Bells.

Jesmond Care Home is dedicated to bringing rich and valuable experiences to its residents all year round and with Christmas being a time to enjoy with family, friends and the community it was an ideal opportunity to connect the residents with local groups for some festive cheer.

Mo Clark, aged 74, resident at Jesmond Care Home said: “Christmas is such a special time of the year and just like everyone else we like to get immersed in the community activities and festivities that are taking place.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our festive calendar of fun – it has brought such a smile to everyone’s faces and it’s great to feel connected to the local community once again.”

Jesmond Care Home in Bridge of Don cares for 65 residential and nursing residents within the purpose-built care home.

Dawn Gardiner, General Manager, Jesmond Care Home said: “We have two dedicated  activities coordinators that help us to run purposeful activities and outings for our residents all year round, and at Christmas their flair for festive activities really shines.

“This year we have been enjoying performances from local dance schools and we have also had the local primary school come along to perform a selection of Christmas carols that I know the residents were absolutely thrilled about.

“And, to round off our festive celebrations, some of our residents are heading out on a day trip to the local nursery where they will get to enjoy a concert of singing and various different performances.”

Jesmond’s spacious environment has been designed to create a safe and supportive home for all residents. It also promotes wellbeing for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The home also has an enclosed garden that residents often like to tend to in the warmer months.

Jesmond Care Home is part of the Renaissance Care Group, it currently operates 16 homes located across Scotland and currently provides care provision for 760 residents and employs around 1,150 staff.
