Care Home Residents Clown Around In Celebration Of World Circus Day

Aberdeen care home residents of Cowdray Club, Persley Castle and Torry Care Home were transported under the big top as they celebrated World Circus Day with a themed party, complete with clown costumes, balloon modelling and a visit from Aberdeen based musician, Jackie Stewart Brolly.

The celebrations, organised by the in-house activities coordinators, were designed to ensure residents and their families had a roaring laugh throughout the day, including a BBQ, face painting, ribbon dancing and a candy floss machine for residents to enjoy.

Persley Castle took the festivities one step further, with residents happy to dress in themed costumes to get the full circus experience.

Mary Potts, aged 83, resident a Persley Castle Care Home said: “I’ve had a blast clowning around at our circus themed party. I might not be able to make it to the circus anymore, but Renaissance Care has brought the circus to me! My favourite part has been the candy floss machine. It has been so long since I have tried it and I had forgotten how lovely and sweet it is.

“I love how much effort is always put in by the whole team at Renaissance Care to ensure that we have exciting events. We are truly looked after by the amazing team of activates coordinators, always looking for new and fun ways to keep us laughing.”

The care group which runs 16 homes across Scotland is known for its fun and inventive events that engage residents and focus on bettering their health and wellbeing, as well as encouraging fun and physical activity.

Abby Williams, Activities Coordinator at Persley Castle Care Home said: “There is always a great buzz in the home when we put on events like this. We’re really lucky to have residents who are always game for a good laugh and like to try something new.

“Staying active is vital to maintaining good health as you get older. It is our goal at Renaissance Care to ensure that we provide as many opportunities as possible for residents to get involved, stay active and most importantly have fun.”

Cowdray Club, Persley Castle and Torry Care Home are currently operated by Renaissance Care, which operates 16 homes located across Scotland and currently provides care provision for 760 residents and employs around 1,150 staff.
