South Ayrshire care home appoints new manager with a history of industry leading standards

Renaissance Care’s Malin Court Care Home, located in Girvan, has recently welcomed a new manager, Louise Dunlop, into its team.

Louise brings with her a wealth of professional experience, originally training as a nurse and supporting people with learning disabilities before moving to work within the social care sector for many years.

For the last decade, Louise has worked as a Quality Manager for elderly care homes across Scotland and prides herself on the high standards that this decade worth of inspections has instilled in her.

When asked about this change in career, Louise said:

“My change in role from inspector to home manager has given me a totally new perspective – I now see the flip of the coin on how busy and hectic it can be running a care home day to day. Luckily, Malin Court has a great team of long-standing care workers who know the residents and the home really well. They’ve been very supportive of the transition.

“This role has a strong people focus, with many opportunities to create strong, lasting bonds with residents that I didn’t get as an inspector. It brings a more human element to my job, and I am excited to embrace this.”

Malin Court Care Home, situated between Turnberry and the village of Maidens, South Ayrshire, offers 32 spacious en-suite rooms equipped with living space and kitchenettes allowing residents to retain a true sense of independence.

The home, which used to operate as a hotel and restaurant, has retained its strong hospitality focus with room service and waiters still in place for residents to enjoy.

When asked about her initial reaction to the home, Louise said:

“Malin Court is really unique. It is in such a beautiful location and offers its residents a strong opportunity to retain their independence.

“I think what makes Malin Court special from any other care home I have witnessed is the extremely personalised approach they take to providing care. The staff know the residents inside-out and it gives the home a nice, settled-in, and comfortable feel.

“It’s also a very active home – there is never a dull day. We are currently in the process of inputting a putting green for residents to use and we are also finalising the recruitment of a new activities coordinator which will ensure we have a fulfilling social schedule for our residents.”
