Medication, while not our primary choice, is available if deemed necessary to treat different forms of dementia and temporarily alleviate symptoms. Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors aid nerve cell communication, and Memantine helps regulate excessive glutamate in the brain. However, any decision to administer medication is only made after consultation with our medical team and doctors. The same careful approach applies when addressing other conditions that may impact dementia symptoms, such as heart problems or diabetes. Throughout the process, we actively involve the person living with dementia and their family, ensuring decisions are made collaboratively with our dedicated care team. At Renaissance, our approach to dementia care  is based around compassionate care and individualised support, this helps individuals achieve their goals and aspirations regardless of diagnosis.
