PAYING FOR DEMENTIA CARE IN SCOTLAND

 

Health care via the NHS is free at the point of delivery. Social care delivered in a residential home environment is subject to charges - this means that most people pay for at least part of their care.  

 

People with capital of £32,750 or higher will be self-funders. However, all adults over 65 in Scotland are entitled to free personal care (£233.10* per week) and nursing care (£104.90* per week) which is paid from your local authority direct to your care provider.

Assessing your financial support

Before this happens, your local council will be able to assess your needs and recommend appropriate local services. Their social care department will assign you a care manager and they will undertake a financial assessment.  

This can be a complex process, but our Renaissance Care home managers are experienced in accessing the right support. They have the skills and ability to guide you and your family through this journey, so please contact your preferred home for any help you may need.
