Cranford’s Summer Fayre 2026

Exterior view of Cranford Care Home, a period property situated in Aberdeen.

At our care homes, we're always looking for ways to bring the outside in. Welcoming our local communities through our doors keeps life interesting, creates opportunities for people of all ages to connect, and fills our homes with the warmth, laughter, and friendly atmosphere that make them such special places to live.

This weekend, our Cranford Care Home is putting that into practice by opening its doors for our annual Summer Fayre. It promises to be a fantastic afternoon of fun, food, entertainment, and friendly faces, as residents, families, neighbours, and local businesses come together for a day of celebration.

A Community Coming Together

Events like this are a real community effort, and we've been overwhelmed by the generosity and support we've received. Families, friends, neighbours, and local businesses have kindly donated raffle prizes, gifts, and supplies, helping to make the day one to remember.

Our residents have been at the heart of the preparations from the very beginning. From choosing games and helping organise stalls to sharing ideas and building excitement ahead of the big day, they've played an important role in bringing the Summer Fayre to life.

For many residents, the anticipation is just as enjoyable as the event itself. Seeing months of planning come together, welcoming visitors into their home, and sharing the day with familiar faces and new friends creates the kind of warm, lively atmosphere that makes community events so special.

What’s Happening on the Day

We’ve filled the afternoon with plenty to see, do, and eat:

Local Stalls: We have around 20 local crafters and businesses joining us, selling everything from homemade candles and bakes to books, sweets, jewellery, and gifts.

Traditional Games: Cranford staff and residents will be running a few classic stalls, including a lucky dip, a bottle stall, a tombola, and a "Guess the Bear’s Birthday" game.

Food & Music: A live disco will be playing from midday until 4:00 PM to keep the atmosphere lively. We’ll also have a hot BBQ running.

Raffle: The prizes this year are incredible, thanks to everyone's generosity. We have a champagne hamper, concert tickets, a £100 Slaters voucher, 4 VIP Celtic Park tour tickets, beauty products, and plenty of chocolate and drink. Tickets are just £1 a strip and will be drawn at 3:00 PM.

Raising Funds for Something Special

Aside from having a good time, we have a very specific goal this year. We are hoping to raise funds to buy a LifeSize interactive touchscreen tablet for the residents.

If you've never seen one before, they are akin to a giant tablet on wheels, designed specifically for group activities in care homes. Its large, accessible screen makes it easy to use for residents with limited mobility or reduced eyesight, allowing everyone to join in.

The touchscreen opens up countless opportunities for shared experiences, from interactive games and giant crosswords to virtual travel, exploring familiar places on interactive maps, reminiscing together, and making video calls with loved ones. It's a fantastic way to encourage social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and meaningful connections every day.

Come and Join Us

Whether you're popping in to browse the stalls, enjoy a burger from the BBQ, try your luck on the tombola, or simply soak up the atmosphere, we'd love to welcome you.

When: This Saturday, 18th July, 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Where: Cranford Care home, 83-101 Cranford Rd, Aberdeen AB10 7NJ

Entry: £2 for adults, children go free.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, and we hope to see you this weekend!
