Torry is one of the oldest suburbs of Aberdeen City and the care home is at the heart of the community. We are close to local amenities which residents and their families can access.

We look after elderly residents with a range of illnesses and disabilities including a unit caring for residents with advanced dementia.  We have two patio areas in the grounds and grassy areas with surrounding trees allow the residents to enjoy the outdoors.

Torry Care Home is a purpose built nursing home with room for 78 residents.   It was opened in August 2000 and since then has established strong links in the community.

The home is split into three units named by the residents after Scottish hill ranges. All rooms have en-suite facilities and are fully furnished.  Most rooms are for single occupancy but we do have one room available for any couples wishing to share.  Each unit has their own lounge and dining areas.

Nursing & Medical Care
Torry has a minimum of two registered nurses on duty 24 hours a day. The nurses together with the fully trained care staff are responsible for providing both nursing and general care to the highest possible standard.  Our approach is to put individual residents at the centre and tailor their care plans to their own needs.

The home is linked with Holburn Medical Practice (Torry Surgery) who visit the home twice weekly to carry out surgeries. We have monthly multi-disciplinary meetings with a Consultant Geriatrician from Woodend Hospital and also close links with the local Old Age Psychiatry team with community psychiatric nurses regularly visiting the home.

Catering & Services
All meals are cooked on the premises and there is a choice at each mealtime. Our cook meets with residents individually to discuss their preferences. The cooks pride themselves in preparing fresh, home cooked, nutritious food. The menu is regularly rotated and refreshed.

Residents’ Laundry is also done on the premises by our own laundry staff.

Activities and entertainments add to the life of the home so we have a full time activities co-ordinator who runs a program of activities to suit all. Local community groups often visit and the local church organises a service every month for those who wish to attend.

Various other extra services are available as required such as hairdressing, podiatry and newspapers.
